CASE STUDY: LOCAL AUTHORITY SITE – UK
The Client Brief:
To create, design, and deliver a 2-day workshop that educated the facility staff [or trainer] to plan and deliver small group training sessions [2 to 4 members] on the facility [or gym] floor utilising the equipment that was available. The client was aware of how the behaviours of the trainer delivering the small group session, effected the experience of the members attending the small group training session. A large component of the workshop was to educate, and develop the trainers in the skills, and behaviours of teaching and interaction with differing member types. The context of the small group sessions was just as important as the content.
Keith Smith Training spent a great deal of time creating and developing the specific workshop content and resources necessary to execute the client’s specific wants. Educational needs analysis, on the facility staff, to find the areas of quality and elements of development. Discussions took place with the client to find out, in detail, the skills and behaviours that they wanted the trainers to demonstrate with different member types, creating the unique fitness experience. This was then developed into specific criteria that was be used to educate and develop the trainers during the workshop, and as part of an ongoing mentoring process.
The client is now delivering small group sessions. Keith Smith Training has delivered in-house mentor training, this enables the client to take responsibility for staff development and the continual improvement of the small group experience. The mentoring process has also helped highlight some potential new facility experience offerings, which Keith Smith Training is now supporting.
